Here is another free download for a live looper.

Flyloops is an incredibly easy to use live software looper for PCs, it is designed specifically to generate live electronica music as opposed to ambient style or singer songwriter style music. The primary difference is an emphasis on loop interaction and independence and a de-emphasis on loop depth functions (such as randomize and reverse).

Here is a quick breakdown of the functions, please note that all functions can be done immediately and on the fly without stopping playback.

Basic Functions:
- Record independent loop of differing lengths, synced or not
- Stack (layer/overdub) infinitely on any of the loop tracks, with or without decay
- Stop any loop playback immediately or at the next master loop repeat
- Stutter (One-Shot)
- Record a B side compliment which plays serially to any of the 5 primary loops
- Transition any loop seamlessly from it's A to B side

Advanced Functions:
- Consolidate multiple loops into a single loop
- Multiply, Add (append), or Overwrite any loop
- Change which loop is the master
- Stop or Stutter all loops together, or some group of loops
- Crossfade between two groups of loops
- Scratch a group of loops as if on a turntable

Recording:
- Load or Save loops as wav files
- Record a live session including all playing loops and incoming audio (solos, etc.)

MIDI:
- Map any midi command to any function with a simple midi learn function

Coming Soon:
- VST compliance

see

www.flyloops.com

for screenshot, video demos, and free download.

Thanks,
Aaron

songwriters will command the stage at 12 Galaxies on
August 11th. It's a night of girls, Girls, GIRLS!
featuring the lush symphonic electronica of Artemis,
the fiery psychedelic rock of The New Up, and the raw,
danceable trip-hop-rock of ZONK. These bands vary in
their sound and style, covering a wide span of genres
between them, yet are connected in their ability to
craft strong original material and create a dramatic
and electrifying live show.

ZONK :: zonkaholics.com
After their 2004 breakthrough with Our Five Worst
Songs grabbed them opening slots nationwide for such
diverse acts as De La Soul, Concrete Blonde, and Lady
Kier (Deee-Lite) and worldwide recognition through
Konami's popular video game, Dance Dance Revolution,
ZONK's latest release, Half Human, has them joining
forces with the B-52's in the midst of their West
Coast tour schedule. Sometimes likened to "Beck meets
Portishead," ZONK is a modern melding of styles united
by a distinctive, sultry voice and thoughtful
songwriting.
"ZONK... hmmm... fresh from some other planet. We love
'em."
˜Johnette Napolitano, Concrete Blonde
"Local trip-hop foursome ZONK turns the
characteristically languorous and melancholy style's
perma-frown upside down. Frontlady McFiendish's
sex-dripping vocals lend a sultry air to the band's
quirky, beat-driven blend of turntable, laptop, live
guitar and bass and harmonica, yes, harmonica."
˜Bill Picture, SF Examiner

The New Up :: thenewup.com
With a searing lead guitar and thundering rhythm
section, tempered by a flute and sexy female vocals,
The New Up's sound weaves elements of psychedelia,
pop, ska and funk. This San Francisco five-piece cut
its teeth in the Chicago indie scene before immersing
itself in the Bay Area's vibrant music community,
impressing audiences with electric performances that
feature an eclectic repertoire of originals,
discerning covers and inspired improvisations. The New
Up recorded a version of the Talking Heads song "What
a Day That Was" for a cover compilation of the
legendary band and is currently at work on its second
album, a follow-up to the band's self-titled debut
release.
"Fear of Music Talking Heads with Peep Show Siouxsie
leading them: punkish but professional, accented
everywhere by an insistent need to add spice and
scope."
˜Dennis Cook, JamBase
"Trippy eruptions, retro-funk wacka-wacka, dance
thumps, and Pretenders-ish new wave."
˜Monica Kendrick, Chicago Reader

Artemis :: artemis.fm
A seductive blend of daydreamy beats and starry-eyed
breaks, the lush symphonic sound of Artemis is turning
heads in the Bay Area and abroad with her recent third
release, Gravity (RTFM/Magnatune/Cyberset). Joined by
fellow members of electronic artist collective RTFM
for live performances featuring Artemis
(vocals/flutes/programming), Daniel Berkman (handsonic
percussion/kora/keys/guitar) and Cliff Tune
(V-drums/bass), Artemis and her posse weave a hypnotic
synergy, offering listeners an inspiring aural
journey.
"Gravity further refines Artemis's approach to
producing lush, intricate trip-hop and electro-pop."
Just letting you know about a new collection of free sampler instruments just released by hybrid rock band Reactor. There's a 100Mb Electric Guitar, some fabulous tablas, a melodica and some other useful percussion instruments (all in the widely compatible EXS24 format). The collection will be regularly updated - Coming soon is a freaky convolving percussion set...

There are also video clips, a gallery and tonnes of great music from the band behind the samples. Enjoy!

just posting to drop a note that the latest album from my group Revolution Void is available as full download, either as mp3 or CD-quality format, from the Internet Archive. You can simply go to the archive at http://www.archive.org and search for Revolution Void, or go to my site at http://www.revolutionvoid.com and follow the links from there.

The music is a mixture of electronic breakbeats, mid- to downtempo, inspired by producers like DJ's Cam, Shadow, Hi-Tek, Krush and Premier on the downtempo tip and producers like Elite Force and the Marine Parade label on the uptempo style. On top of the electronic beats there is live jazz improvisation thanks to such talents as Seamus Blake (Mingus Big Band) and Matthew Garrison (Herbie Hancock's band).

The album, Increase the Dosage, has been released in its entirety free of charge, no strings attached, with a Creative Commons license (www.creativecommons.org) granting free permission to distribute it. (Read the full license at www.revolutionvoid.com)

I would love to have this album shared with any interested parties, especially music reviewers or people who might give me some feedback. Anyone who cares to comment can drop me a note here on tribe.net or go to the R.V. tribe at http://revolutionvoid.tribe.net

ok, I have a question here.

I'm thinking about making some drum triggers from the piezo element you can buy at Radio Shack, a mousepad and some wood.

I got an Alesis D-4 so that I can run them into it and MIDI out. The only problem is that I've noticed a little bit of a delay coming from the pintech kick drum trigger that I have going into it.

I've seen stuff about this on the internet but haven't actually taked to anyone whose actually done it.
My question is, will the CV signal that comes off of the piezo trigger show variance to create a velocity sensitivity?
