Hi folks, I just jumped in to ask the same question Nelda asked.
So what do you think? Is Pignose the way to go? If so, which model?
Any other brands worth considering?
What's the unit that opens up into two speakers and an amp/eq? (I saw Simon 7 using one in Times Square Subway station....)

Re: Portable battery amp recommendations?
Wed, May 18, 2005 - 12:05 PMbtw...I just found the portable unit Simon 7 was using:
It's by Fender and it's called the Passport system. It comes in three strengths: 80, 160, and 250 watts. The only problem is that it is *not* self-powered. They make an external battery and adapter for it but they tack on an additional $250 !!
It looks like two pignoses would definitely be cheaper and easier to deal with. What do you think? -

Crate TX30BE
Mon, September 19, 2005 - 1:46 PMThe Crate Taxi's are GREAT!! good battery life, built in effects, XLR and 1/4" inputs, strong sound. Very surprising for a crate product, which I usually despise.
My guitarist and I used the Tx-30 all over Europe. It worked pretty well for my bass (it sometimes had a hard time pushing enough to keep up with the drums) but now they have a txb-50 specially designed for bass.

hope it helps....

Re: Portable battery amp recommendations?
Sat, June 23, 2007 - 6:17 PMRoland Micro Cube or larger cube! The Micro has been large enough for me playing outdoors. Sometimes I run it as a preamp into a P.A.
Several amp voices (modelling) FX including reverb, chorus, delay, tremolo Takes 6 AA batteries (lightweight) that last for hours.
Under $130

Tue, November 17, 2009 - 11:46 PMI like Vox DA-5. $150 new, runs off 6 C batts, sounds good, wattage adjustable to save batts, and has mic input.
